Meet Patrick!

The All–American

interview: Derrick Reaves

As one of the newest crew members, you’d expect Patrick to be all nerves and restraint, but this blue-eyed Kansas City-bred babe is a smooth operator. Not that the staff made it particularly difficult for him. “I came into the environment a bit hesitant,” he says, “but these boys have been the most incredible people at making me feel welcome.”

Patrick, with his small–town accessibility and charm, certainly didn’t make that hard for them, either. He flashes his bright smile and chats people up as if he’s known them for years. And it’s a personality trait that Patrick insists fits right in with those of his fellow crew members. “There is such a comforting and supportive family feel to this establishment,” he explains, “I feel very fortunate to be behind the bar with these guys.” Humble and charming, get to know more about Patrick, and get in a little midwestern exposure.

  • What is your favorite thing about New York City so far?
My favorite thing about New York City is the overall liveliness of the city. People are always out doing something in the streets. Anytime you want whatever it is that you want—it’s there.
  • Do you think you fit the country boy–in–the–big–city stereotype?
Maybe. But cow tipping and hay rides? Not exactly. Kansas is more “normal” than a lot of people think.
  • What is your favorite night at G Lounge?
Küte Sundays! Everyone is in a carefree mood [and having a great time].
  • Who is your favorite DJ?
At G, I love DJ Brooks. Especially when he is in his house/trance music mode. In general, Tiesto is incredible.
  • What is the funniest thing that’s ever happened to you at G Lounge?
I think my funniest experience so far was the whole interview process. I had no idea if the others liked me, or what to expect. I think I did something right though—I’m here!
  • Boys or girls?
    Boys.
  • What type of guys are you into?
Hmmm…how not to make this into a grocery list! Guys who have confidence and humility. Thoughtfulness. The little things that my mom would think are good qualities in a person.
  • What is your sexiest trait?
    Hmmm…how humble I am.
  • Who is your hero?
My mother. She is a beautiful woman who raised two children who are now amazing men. Oh, and Frankie behind the bar. Without our barbacks we would not be able to operate!
  • What were some of your activities and hobbies in school?
I was student body president, a thespian, into photography…
  • Were you gunning for “Most All–Around?” Or did all those extra–curriculars simply grant you more access to the, uh, student body?
I think being so involved helped me to stay focused and truly discover what I am most interested in. Plus, you are right, you do get to meet a lot of boys—I mean, interesting people.
  • What are some things you like to do in your free time?
I’m a homebody. I enjoy my personal time. And I like to do anything that satisfies my creative itch.
  • What was your experience living in Spain like?
I lived in Spain in for a year. Living there when I did really allowed me to find a lot of myself. It was an experience that had a huge impact on my life.
  • It’s a not–so–big–secret that you idealize Zack Morris from TVs “Saved By The Bell.” What’s your favorite “Saved By The Bell” moment?
Oh, wow! That’s pretty much impossible. But if I had to pick one, I would have to say when Zack takes Kelly to “prom,” despite the fact that she can’t afford a dress. The romantic in me just comes right out there…
  • What’s the weirdest job that you have ever had?
One summer I worked for the water district in my county back in Kansas. I drove around in a pick–up (an A.C. and FM radio–free one, mind you) and checked fire hydrants to make sure they were working properly. It was definitely the most “butch” job I’ve ever had!
  • If your personality were a cocktail, which would it be?
[My own] Ruby Slippers shot. Ask me for one!
