Meet Marcello!

The Veteran

interview: Derrick Reaves

As one of the longest running members of the G Lounge crew, this sexy bar stud has become a highly recognizable staple at some of G’s biggest parties. Indeed, making your way through the loyal barflies at Marcello’s area of the bar can be a daunting, yet ultimately rewarding, task. Between the hot body, the myriad of yummy tattoos, and the sexy smile, it’s no wonder the crowd swells wherever this native New Yorker is pouring.

He is the one the others refer to as “the G papa.” Ever the eclectic, he not only hates getting his hands dirty, but even refused to finger paint as a child. In addition to managing the bartenders and the hiring of new staff, every night he goes home to the love of his life, his 5-year old daughter. From parenthood to parties, get to know a little bit more about the man behind the muscles.

  • What are your current hobbies and interests?
My daughter, snowboarding and the gym.
  • How do you balance parenthood and a job in the nightlife?
Working late nights is rough, but we always have our day times together. My personal motto about working nightlife has always been: if I’m going to choose to work late and party hard, then I’m going to be good enough to put all of my available attentions afterwards to my little girl.
  • You look great. How long have you been hitting the gym?
About a year before I started at G.
  • You’ve become recognizable by your many tattoos. How many do you currently have compared to when you first started?
Not many more, actually. None in the last five years, in fact. No one knew of them because we used to actually have to wear shirts in the old days! Anyways, now when people see me they just assume that I’ve gotten more.
  • How has G Lounge changed since you have been working here?
There used to be a juice bar in the back and we had three pay phones. The whole back of the bar is opened up now. When G first opened, Chelsea was a pretty shady part of town. Then it found its cookie-cutter muscle boy image. Now, it’s totally diverse. All types walk 8th Ave.
  • What do you look for when hiring new bartenders?
    GREAT personalities.
  • And how do you keep all those rowdy bartender boys in check?
I don’t have to. They are great guys. We have a great time.
  • Being a Queens native, I’m sure you know how to handle any unruly customers…
It doesn’t happen often, but when it does you have to deal with it appropriately.
  • What do you think is your sexiest feature?
    I don’t know. My smile.
  • What do you find most attractive in others?
Personality and how they carries themselves.
  • What’s the worst pick-up line a patron has given you at work?
“Are you ok? Because you look like you’ve just fallen from Heaven.” Seriously.
  • Based on your personality, if you were any cocktail, which would you be?
X-Rated! Just kidding. I’d have to think about that. I’m a Grey Goose on the rocks man, myself.
  • What cocktail would you recommend to a G Lounge newbie?
Our famous frozen Cosmos, of course!
  • What do you find is the best part of your favorite parties?
When the crowd is really feeling the music and the energy is bouncing off of the walls.
  • What are your favorite parties at G Lounge?
Küte and Gorgeous. Those are great parties.
